It’s funny how most Collection games for most franchises has even less than what’s presented in Origins. The Mario, Castlevania, Contra, Crash Bandicoot, or some of the Mega Man collections don’t have as much as what’s present in Origins. I mean it’s still fine and all to criticize the game and whatnot, sure. But good lord, I think the Sonic fanbase is probably the whiniest group of people of all time.

i am actually really a huge fan of marble garden. Its catchy music, is inredible speed, mixed with thoughtful platfrming, creative level gimmiks, and while the level is long, its a blast all the way. Carnivial nights is a cool zone, but also while i'm playing it Im constantly thinking about ice cap and wanting to play that instead.

I think SEGA was looking to do a redemption arc while somehow putting little effort and stuff so they just thought that Sonic Origins could be praised no matter how much they screwed it over because they thought we were naive enough to like a combo of ports of classic games, concept art, something from Headcanon and Tyson Hesse cutscenes all jumbled up into a ball of slop because they have all been proven to work despite not being proven to work without other good stuff. Essentially SEGA just decided to mindlessly throw stuff the fandom likes together like a robot.

The fact that if you get; Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, Sonic CD Restored and Sonic 3 A.I.R. And put them in a folder then that would be better than origins

I dont think I paid $45 for this, I cannot imagine I did - I have it on the PS4 and basically, I would pay $20 just for S3&K on a console. To me the selling point was actually rereleasing that game. As someone who has only played the mobile version of Sonic 4, that version is nearly identical to the PartnerNET build with only the model being swapped. It's still bad but the minecart stage is way better due to motion controls. The special stages also use motion controls, though, so they suck ass now.

How to get a better Sonic Origins: Step 1: Get a Steam Deck Step 2: Download something like Proton Experimental to get Windows games working on it, and make sure you add the Window games non-Steam ones Step 3: Get Sonic 1 Forever Step 4: Get the Sonic CD decompilation and the Miracle Edition mod, preferably via a Windows Virtual Machine (And extra slot Amy for good measure if you don't have the patience to decompile all the games with Origins data in an overly specific way like me) Step 5: Get Sonic 2 Absolute Step 6: Get Sonic 3 A.I.R. with some additional QoL mods (Pariah695 has a spreadsheet for just a handful of them) Step 7: Get Sonic Triple Trouble 16-Bit Step 8: Get the Sonic Mania Plus decompilation and the Addendum mod (The decompilation is hard to get and will absolutely require a Windows VM to build that just an FYI, so be mentally prepared for it) *Congratulations, you now have a good version of "Sonic Origins"*

I always said that if they would’ve re-tooled Episode I to look and play like Episode II and gave us Episode III with Knuckles, Sonic 4 would’ve been a solid little trilogy. Crazy that even after the release of Superstars, Sonic Team has been completely outclassed and shown up by Christian Whitehead and Headcannon with the release of Sonic Mania. Superstars is solid, but $60 is crazy for that game. I finally took the plunge after seeing that the game was on sale on Xbox for $35 yesterday. Honestly not bad (so far. lol)

For those old people, Sonic 4 in America is Sonic and Knuckles…even though in Japan, they had Sonic 3 & knuckles as one whole game, this game probably had a lot of confusion as to why sega didn’t catch on to that aspect. If they did and wanted to make the game nostalgic, they would have just needed to go back and study the mechanics and look of its predecessor, Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sonic 4 would’ve been a better game if they did.
